A Quick Note

Just a quick note to take into account. Ikariam is powered by Ambrosia which has to be purchased.

Ambrosia itself is a derivative of the word Ambrosius. Ambrosius Orelanus is the nam,e of a King who reigned in medieval times. Many historians have speculated that Ambrosius and King Arth (Yea the knights of the round table Arthur) are one and the same.

If this is true then the name makes no sense. Why would we call something that is valuable like jewels by the name of Arthur?

It's like calling Mjlnor Bob

the greek word for the food of the gods is translated as Ambrosia, I think that is what they are referring to.

Do you really need the Ambrosia or can you still play well with out it?

IMO you can play just fine without it. My suggestion is to play for a month or more to see if you like the game enough to spend RL dollars on it.

I bought 400 ambrosia... I use it when I go to war. I can keep up basic production of things even though I have a huge army due to the20% bonuses ambrosia gives. It also lets me make a build qeue and see oncomming pillages.
